Ed Serotta: Preserving memories; Telling stories
Born in Savannah, GA, Ed Serotta has lived in Europe since 1988. he is a writer, photographer and filmmaker specializing in Jewish life in Central-Eastern Europe. He has three books and four documentary films to his credit and since 2000 has been the director of Centropa.
For 15 years (1985-2000), Ed Serotta took pictures of Jews in Central Europe. Over these 15 years, he has also been taking pictures from them. He wanted to marry together the art of story-telling with old family pictures—not about the Holocaust, but about the world that lived before it.
